The Rain & Rose Fund was established in Puerto Rico in 2018 by Michael and Vicky Basile, following the devastation wrought by Hurricane Maria. Our mission is to empower under-resourced Puerto Ricans to lift themselves out of poverty by giving them the essential tools they need to recover from a difficult past, maintain stability in a challenging present, and look with hope towards a bright future. We maximize the impact of local charities by significantly increasing their funding, and we give confidence to our donors by providing them with reputable organizations to support.
-
Our fund receives donations from both individual and corporate sponsors and donors throughout the year. Each fall, we host a 2-day celebrity golf tournament & charity benefit in Puerto Rico where we bring together an amazing mix of locals, VIPs, and celebrities to share in an atmosphere of pure camaraderie, while helping us raise funds for non-for-profit institutions serving vulnerable sectors. Guests attending the event can participate in the golf, tennis, Pickleball tournament or the closing event. With the support of local and stateside sponsors, who come on to participate in the event each year, we are able to off-set most of our hard costs, allocating the majority of funds directly to our charitable recipients. The net funds raised from our November event are then handed to our recipients throughout the next calendar year. For example, funds from our 2023 event are distributed to the recipients quarterly in 2024.
-
Our charity focuses on non-for-profit institutions providing relief and survival, child & youth development programs and education for the people of Puerto Rico. Rain and Rose assesses each organization we select, making sure that we are partnering with the most effective and efficient groups. We monitor the continuing operations of our grantees. Each one is aware that their funding is merit-based and can be rescinded at any point that their organization ceases to optimally perform.
